We will still go out in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. If the weather is severe and we have to cancel, you can reschedule to another trip or receive a credit for a future event. If it's a rainy day, please dress appropriately.
Can I still go on the boat if I don't want to fish?
Yes, you can, and there is a reduced price ticket for those that just want to ride along.
Are children allowed?
Yes, children are allowed to join us. We recommend that children be at least 6 years of age, and please keep in mind that this trip is 4½ hours long and parents who know their children best and should determine whether it is appropriate for their child.
Is this trip suitable for pregnant women?
We do not put any limitations on who may or may not attend, however pregnant women may want to consult with their doctor before participating to make sure this activity is appropriate for them.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FISHING, LIMITS & TRIP DETAILS
I have never been fishing before. Is that okay?
Oh sure, nothing like a new experience! Our crew will assist you and, often times, some of the "seasoned" veterans are happy to instruct.
How many fish can I keep?
You can keep as many fish as are allowed by the state regulations and limits. Your captain and crew are up to date on the most recent limit details, and will update everyone with this information at the start of the trip. Regulations vary depending on the season and what we are fishing for on a particular day.
What type of fish will we catch?
It all depends on what type of fish are in season. Our typical catches include fluke, sea bass, redhake and small bluefish.
What type of bait is used on the trip?
We typically use spearing or squid strips but on other occasions we'll use what's available and working best for catching fish.
How far out do we go? How much time do we actually spend fishing?
Generally, we typically fish about 1 - 6 miles from our inlet depending where the fish are biting.
What happens when everyone catches their limit?
Since there are multiple species of fish to catch at all times, if we catch our limit of one species, we continue fishing for others. We will instruct you on board.
Can I sell the fish I catch?
No, it is illegal to sell the fish you catch without proper licensing. If you decide not to keep any of the fish you catch, you can either release them or give them to a crew member.
What can I do with the fish I have caught?
Our crew will gladly clean and bag any fish you catch for you to take home for a gratuity.
Do you guarantee that fish will be caught?
We can guarantee fishing but unfortunately, not catching. The captain will do everything in his power to put you where the fish are, but we cannot control what does or does not bite the hook.
Do I need a fishing license?
No, we have a license that enables us to take out our passengers for the whole year! You will not need to get your own license in order to participate.
Can you provide me with fishing gear, bait and tackle?
A standard rod and reel rental is available upon purchasing your tickets for $5, but we have everything else you'll need, including bait and tackle.
I have my own equipment. What type of gear do I need?
Feel free to bring your own gear. We recommend 20 - 30 lb rod and reel class.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING
Can I bring a cooler?
Coolers or ice chests are permitted on board and can be used to store food and drink or your fish.
Can I bring my own food and/or beverages?
Sure! There will be food and drink available for sale on board, but feel free to bring your own with you if you'd like. A maximum of 6 beers per person of legal age. No hard alcohol or mixed drinks are permitted on a fishing trip.
What kinds of food and beverages are available in the galley?
Our galley offers breakfast and lunch sandwiches including hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages.
What should I wear?
It is good to dress in layers and keep in mind that sometimes the air is cooler on the water than it is on land. We recommend a brimmed hat and sunscreen. If it looks like rain, we recommend a poncho. You could also bring a rag to keep your hands clean.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BOAT
Is there a bathroom on board?
Yes, of course, there are individual restrooms for men and women on board the boat for your convenience.
Will there be room on the boat to stow my belongings?
We allow one rod holder per customer. Extra rods can be stored on the overhead where you are fishing. Coolers can be stowed underneath the benches.
Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
Yes, but please click on the "Contact TheGambler" link to connect with us directly for more information.
Are there life jackets on the boat?
Yes, we have life jackets on board, but they are for emergency purposes only (you are not required to wear them during the trip).
Will I get seasick?
If you are unsure about your sea legs, you can take Dramamine or other medicine --follow directions precisely. Be careful not to eat overly greasy food before the trip. One of the best preventatives that we have seen is the wristbands sold in most drug stores. Called Sea Bands, you just simply wear them on your wrists and align pressure points as directed. No medicine involved here, no drowsiness or other side effects --and they really work!
Is parking available?
Yes, there is free parking available right behind the boat.
Is smoking allowed on the boat?
Yes, smoking is allowed, but only on deck and not in the cabin.
The crew was awesome! Can I leave a gratuity?
Of course! Our crew works very hard to ensure that your trip is enjoyable, and gratuities are greatly appreciated.
